The Duke Endowment moved to strengthen families by supporting the expansion of two evidence-based child welfare initiatives: the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) and the Success Coach model.
A major public-private effort, approved in March 2025, will expand Triple P across the Carolinas, contingent on state matching funds and evaluation. In South Carolina, lawmakers appropriated $750,000 in recurring funds, matched by the Endowment to support rollout in four counties. The Endowment hopes future appropriations, matched by its grant dollars, will expand the program statewide.
The Endowment also continued to support the expansion of the Success Coach model in the Carolinas. Success Coach pairs trained coaches with children and families in the child welfare system to provide consistent, relationship-based support. In 2025, North Carolina officials announced the statewide expansion of the Success Coach model. The Endowment supports implementation and evaluation efforts to ensure the model can scale effectively.
